Relación entre el funcionamiento familiar y la tolerancia a la frustración en adolescentes de bachillerato de la Unidad Educativa Manuel J. Calle de la ciudad de Cuenca, periodo 2022-2023

Abstract

Family functioning is the ability of a family system to change its power structure, relationships, norms and rules in response to the changing situation and evolution of its family structure. In contrast, frustration tolerance is the ability to accept failure through self-regulation and emotional well-being. The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between family functioning and frustration tolerance of adolescents in their second year of high school. It had a quantitative approach, non-experimental cross-sectional design and correlational scope. The population was made up of 86 participants selected by non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The instruments used were a sociodemographic sheet, the Family Cohesion and Adaptability Evaluation Scale (FACES III) and the Frustration Tolerance Scale (TOFRU). The results within family functionality showed a united family typology with 31%, while 53% belonged to a chaotic family typology. In this way, the type of family functionality is within a balanced level with 53%. Regarding frustration tolerance, the participants present low levels of frustration tolerance at 47%. Finally, the main finding of the research was that no significant correlation was found between family functioning and frustration tolerance in adolescents in their second year of high school at the U. E. Manuel J. Calle.
