Evaluación de la eficacia de fluralaner e Ivermectina en el control de ácaro rojo (Dermanyssus gallinae) en las aves del combate

Abstract

The use of external antiparasitic is part of the preventive health actions in poultry activities, however, some adverse factors are presented such as a limited effect on the animal or the lack of knowledge of the appropriate application doses. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the efficacy of the use of fluralaner and ivermectin antiparasitics in fighting birds to control the presence of ectoparasites, mainly the red mite (Dermanyssus gallinae). A total of 100 birds classified into 4 groups of 25 animals were used in the investigation. The treatments corresponded to T1: Fluralaner, T2: Ivermectin T3: Positive Control and T4: Negative Control. Obtaining that the number of live mites in T1 was lower compared to T2, however, no significant differences were found between treatments (T1 and T2), but yes with respect to the positive control and negative control. Likewise, an average efficiency of 95, 7% was determined for T1, while for T2 it was 98, 5%, in addition, significant differences were detected with respect to T1 and PC, obtaining a higher mean. On the other hand, the analysis of the annual treatment cost per bird showed that for fluralaner it was $13, 6 USD and for ivermectin it was $1,278 USD. Based on the above, it is concluded that for the control of red mite (Dermanyssus gallinae) in fighting birds, ivermectin is more effective and has lower costs compared to fluralaner.
