Abstract
A globalized environment demands that companies face challenges in order to attract
investment and maintain competitiveness, in addition to forcing them to manage effectively
and efficiently, which increases the conviction of investors and shareholders to generate value.
This article presents the results of a study aimed at analyzing the Economic Value Added
(EVA) of microenterprises in the manufacturing sector of Azuay in the period 2019-2021. The
information was obtained from the database of the Superintendence of Companies, Securities
and Insurance, from which 170 microenterprises were sampled, classified according to their
type of economic activity and type of company. In addition, to complement the statistical
information, interviews were conducted with key actors. The results obtained showed that the
manufacturing microenterprise sector since 2019 has been suffering a negative impact, this
intensified during the period of the Covid-19 pandemic, however, in the post-pandemic year
there was a slight recovery of the sector, however, the destruction of value predominates.
Resumen
Un entorno globalizado demanda a las empresas enfrentarse a desafíos para atraer
inversiones y mantener la competitividad, además de que las obliga a administrar de forma
eficaz y eficiente, lo cual aumenta la convicción de los inversionistas y accionistas de generar
valor. Este artículo presenta los resultados de un estudio orientado a analizar el Valor
Económico Agregado (EVA) de las microempresas del sector manufacturero del Azuay en el
período 2019-2021. La información se obtuvo de la base de datos de la Superintendencia de
Compañías, Valores y Seguros, de la cual se tomó como muestra 170 microempresas,
clasificadas según su tipo de actividad económica y tipo de compañía. Además, para
complementar la información estadística, se realizaron entrevistas a actores clave. Los
resultados obtenidos demostraron que el sector microempresarial manufacturero desde el
2019 viene sufriendo un impacto negativo, esto se intensificó durante el periodo de la
pandemia Covid-19, sin embargo, en el año post pandemia se dio una ligera recuperación del
sector, no obstante, la destrucción de valor predomina.
