Abstract
Play is a natural and spontaneous language in children's lives. It allows them a free expression
of emotions, feelings, and interaction with siblings, cousins, friends, and adults. This study
attempts to research traditional games in Quilloac, Cañar, where information is limited.
However, this topic has been addressed extensively in several countries. Therefore, the
motivation to carry out this investigation.
In this sense, this document embraces two transversal points. First, it addresses a context
through some key terms to understand the importance of popular games. Second, it describes
and analyzes the data obtained from interviews and life stories of people from the mentioned
community. Altogether, these two parts allow answering the objectives and intended research
question.
Thus, the inhabitants of the rural area of Quilloac are the protagonists of this study. To obtain
information about the cultural dynamics of the games, open and semi-structured interviews
were conducted to collect data more flexibly. Through the interviews, it was possible to carry
out an ethnographic approach. Also, through this technique, a description of the spaces,
music, toys, materials, practices, and other elements of cultural heritage which represent great
richness for the community and the region was obtained. To sum up, this research will allow
an approach to a very relevant topic for the Quilloac Community.
Resumen
El juego constituye un lenguaje natural y espontáneo en la vida de niñas y niños, este permite
la libre expresión de emociones, sentimientos e interacción con hermanos, primos, amigos y
adultos. Este trabajo pretende investigar sobre los juegos tradicionales en Quilloac, Cañar,
este tema ha sido tratado en varios países de manera extensa, sin embargo, en Cañar, la
información es limitada, por ello la motivación de realizar este trabajo.
En este sentido, este documento contiene dos puntos transversales, en primer lugar, abordar
un contexto a través de algunos términos clave para entender la importancia de los juegos
populares; en segundo lugar, describir y analizar los datos obtenidos de las entrevistas e
historias de vida de los pobladores de la Comunidad. En conjunto, las dos partes permiten
responder a los objetivos y pregunta de investigación planteados.
De este modo, los moradores de la zona rural de Quilloac son los protagonistas de este
estudio, para poder obtener la información sobre las dinámicas culturales sobre los juegos,
se realizaron entrevistas abiertas y semiestructurada, así, la recolección de los datos se hizo
más flexible. Además, mediante estas entrevistas se pudo realizar un acercamiento
etnográfico, mediante esta técnica se obtuvo una descripción de los espacios, música,
juguetes, materiales, prácticas y otros elementos del patrimonio cultural de gran riqueza para
la comunidad y la región.
En resumen esta investigación permitirá una aproximación a un tema muy relevante para la
Comunidad de Quilloac.
