Autoestima y calidad de vida de madres adolescentes de 15-19 años en los centros de salud de Cuenca, 2023-2024

Abstract

Background: In Ecuador, 15.7% of births are to a mother under 17 years of age and 0.7% to a girl under 15 years of age, which is why it is considered a public and global health problem due to the biopsychosocial consequences that affect both mother and child during pregnancy and childbirth. Pregnancy at an early age is a problem that occurs in most Latin American countries with a high percentage of risk factors and complications, which affect two important aspects in the development of self-esteem and quality of life. General objective: determine the level of self-esteem and quality of life in mothers aged 15 to 19 who attend the Health Centers of the City of Cuenca, 2023-2024. Methods: In the present investigation, a study was carried out with a quantitative, cross-sectional descriptive approach, with a sample of 108 mothers who attended the Health Centers of the city of Cuenca. The data was collected through the Rosenberg Questionnaire which allowed the level of self-esteem to be interpreted and the KIDSCREEN-52 Health-Related Quality of Life Questionnaire was also applied, which helped measure the quality of life in mothers of 15 – 19 years. The results obtained were analyzed using the EPINFO program, SPSS 2023 and Excel 2019.
