Abstract
This research is aimed at developing and analyzing the structure and function of the State
with respect to society. It is intended to observe the difference of the State and its functions
in the classical era versus the contemporary era, taking as representative figures of those
times Plato and Bauman respectively.
Plato's prescriptive theory, characteristic of the classical era, is the ideal model of the State
that is based on the pillars of social organization, justice and education. The author shows
how a good education produces good rulers and how justice is in charge of organizing
society.
Bauman's contemporary theory is a critique of the role of the modern state, which is in crisis
due to the absence of power and politics. The modern state is in crisis due to the effects of
globalization and capitalism.
The research shows the difference between the ideal state and the modern state, the role of
justice and education in the theories analyzed
Resumen
La presente investigación está orientada a desarrollar y analizar la estructura y la función del
Estado con respecto a la sociedad. Se pretende observar la diferencia del Estado y sus
funciones en la época clásica frente a la época contemporánea tomando como figuras
representativas de esas épocas a Platón y Bauman respectivamente.
La teoría prescriptiva de Platón, característica de la época clásica es el modelo ideal del
Estado que se basa en los pilares de organización social, justicia y educación. El autor
muestra como una buena educación produce buenos gobernantes y como la justicia se
encarga de organizar la sociedad.
La teoría contemporánea de Bauman es una crítica al rol del Estado moderno, el cual se
encuentra en crisis por la ausencia de poder y política. El Estado moderno está en crisis por
los efectos de la globalización y el capitalismo.
La investigación muestra la diferencia entre el Estado ideal y el Estado moderno, el papel de
la justicia y la educación en las teorías analizadas
