Abstract
The book, the result of meticulous research, approaches the editorial work of José Martí in the 19th century from the perspective of his own practice and theoretical construction. A search of his stationery, letters and notes, shows the validity of Marti's conception regarding the diffusion of culture and its reach from the book, at the same time that it reveals the keys of a publisher of race, apt for the exercise of all editorial functions, and a center of communion for technical, artistic, literary and linguistic knowledge, already foreign in the 21st century.
Resumen
El libro, resultado de una investigación minuciosa, se acerca a la labor editorial de José Martí en el siglo XIX desde la perspectiva de su propia práctica y construcción teórica. Un rastreo de su papelería, cartas y apuntes, muestra la vigencia de la concepción martiana en torno a la difusión de la cultura y su alcance desde el libro, al mismo tiempo que devela las claves de un editor de raza, apto para el ejercicio de todas las funciones editoriales, y centro de comunión de saberes técnicos, artísticos, literarios y lingüísticos, ya extraños en pleno siglo XXI.
