| dc.description | Este artículo pone de relieve el valor económico y ecológico de los sistemas de recursos hídricos de la de Ecuador páramo región forestal y montano y da una descripción, basado en una encuesta de la literatura reciente, de los mecanismos que controlan el proceso de precipitación-escorrentía y cómo los cambios en el uso del suelo altera el transformación. El examen revela que la comprensión disponible es parcial, el resultado de los esfuerzos de investigación individuales y aislados, y se ve obstaculizada por la falta de conjuntos de datos completos y coherentes a largo plazo. Conocimiento disponible aún no permite arriba y la reducción de escala de los resultados. El artículo concluye (1) citando algunas de las principales lagunas que impiden la comprensión hidrológica de los ecosistemas andinos tropicales y (2) proponer recomendaciones para acelerar la comprensión y el desarrollo de políticas y medidas para garantizar un desarrollo ecológicamente seguro y sostenible del agua frágil ecosistemas basados de la región andina tropical de Ecuador. | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | This article highlights the economic and ecological value of the water resource systems of Ecuador’s paramo and montane forest region and gives a description, based on a survey of recent literature, of the mechanisms controlling the rainfall–runoff process and how changes in land use alter the transformation. The review reveals that available understanding is partial, the result of individual and isolated research efforts, and is hindered by a lack of long-term complete and consistent data sets. Available knowledge does not yet permit up- and downscaling of findings. The article concludes by (1) citing some of the major gaps that impede hydrological understanding of the tropical Andean ecosystems and (2) proposing recommendations to speed up understanding and development of policies and measures to guarantee ecologically safe and sustainable development of the fragile water-based ecosystems of Ecuador’s tropical Andean region. | es_ES |
