Embarazo de alto riesgo y factores asociados en el “Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga”, Cuenca, Enero - Junio, 2018

Abstract

Background: high-risk pregnancy constitutes a public health problem because it significantly increases maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. General objective: to determine the high risk pregnancy and its associated factors in the "Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga", period of January - June, 2018. Methodology: observational, descriptive, retrospective study. Participating were 325 pregnant women who met the inclusion criteria, the information was collected through a questionnaire prepared for this purpose. The data were analyzed through the SPSS program, version 15, to assess the association, the chi 2 test was applied, reporting the prevalence ratio and the 95% confidence interval and the p value. Results: pregnant women of high obstetric risk predominated with 61.8%, followed by patients with very high risk in 20.3%. The risk pregnancy was more frequent in pregnant women older than 35 years with 38.6%, 71.5% married, 65.9% residents in urban areas and 54.7% higher education. There was not a statistically significant relationship with age ≤ 16 years ≥ 35 years (PR: 1.97, CI 95% 0.99-3.99, p: 0.37); having a comorbidity (PR: 1.87, CI 95% 0.96-3.66, p: 0.47), hypertensive disorders (PR: 0.06, CI 95% 0.03-12.81, p: 0.55). Nulliparity behaved as a protective factor (PR: 0.45, CI 95% 0.23-0.82, p: 0.005). Conclusions: the prevalence of high risk pregnancy was high, where nulliparity behaved as a protective factor.
