Abstract

It is an epidemiological descriptive study, part of a project on smoking, poverty and disease in the city of Cuenca. Aimed at determining how the situation of smoking and social, economic and cultural characteristics of the population of the parish Yanuncay Cuenca and during the period from 2002-2003. Taken as showing 1of families, on which a structured interview was applied. It was determined that the prevalence of smoking in this parish reaches greater male representation, the prevailing social stratum is the means but the higher prevalence of smoking ranks high social conglomerate.
