Frecuencia de niños/as de 12-48 meses con discapacidad incluidos en Centros Infantiles del Buen Vivir (CIBV), Cuenca 2016

Abstract

BACKGROUND: For some years and currently, both international, national and local public policies Contained in the Constitution of the Republic, the Organic Law for Disabilities, the Technical Standard for Integral Child Development, as well as other codes and regulations that govern this country, already have a legal framework that protects the population of children with disability. However, the Ecuadorian ministries responsible for caring of the child population do not have sufficient and updated studies on the inclusion of children with disabilities in the Centros Infantiles del Buen Vivir. That is why our study is directed towards the updating and expansion of this information. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To determine the frequency of children of 12-48 months with disabilities included in the Centros Infantiles del Buen Vivir (CIBV) of the Cuenca city. METHODOLOGY: A quantitative, observational and descriptive study, the study population were 12-48 months old children in the 38 CIBV the Cuenca city (N = 1951). The information was obtained through the application of a data collection form addressed to the coordinators of each CIBV. USE OF RESULTS: The study showed that there are 12 children with inclusion that represent 0.6%, compared to 1939 children without disabilities, which represent 99.4%; This result draws attention because in the Cuenca city there are 188 children with disabilities and against this amount the 12 children included represent only 6.3%.
