Abstract
The investigation tries to determine the prevalence of low weight, overweight, obesity in niños/as of the School Francisco Cisneros of the Chuiquintad parish of the Corner River basin, rescuing the cultural tradition in relation to the nutritional habits.
This investigation comprises of the project: NUTRITIONAL STATE OF THE CHILDREN OF THE SCHOOL “FRANCISCO CISNEROS” OF PARISH CHIQUINTAD OF THE CANTÒN RIVER BASIN 2010. Impelled by the School of Infirmary of the University of River basin, in which students participate, graduate and educational from this school.
Material and method: One is a study of cross section that allowed to determine the prevalence us of malnutrition in niños/as of the School Francisco Cisneros of the Chiquintad parish of the corner River basin.
Work yet the universe of study constituted by 43 students between the second registered year and seventh year of basic in September 2009.
Techniques and instruments:
The investigation techniques that I am used were:
- The survey that I am realized to the parents of family of niños/as investigated.
- The technique of measurement of the anthropometric control.
The instruments that were used were.
- The tables of index of corporal mass (IMC)
- The curves of growth of the NCHS
- Forms of survey on the socioeconomic condition.
The data process and were analyzed by means of Microsoft office Word and Excel.
The results were overweight 13.93%, obesity 6.96% and low weight 4.64 %
In conclusion: in the School Francisco Cisneros one was that it exists low weight, overweight and obesity to weigh of the reduced number of students.

Resumen
Esta investigación forma parte del proyecto: ESTADO NUTRICIONAL DE LOS NINOS DE LA ESCUELA FRANCISCO CISNEROS DE LA PARROQUIA CHIQUINTAD DEL CANTÒN CUENCA 2010. Impulsado por las Escuela de Enfermería de la Universidad de Cuenca, en el cual participan estudiantes, egresadas y docentes de esta escuela. Material y método: Se trata de un estudio de corte transversal que nos permitió determinar la prevalencia de la malnutrición en los niños/as de la Escuela Francisco Cisneros de la parroquia Chiquintad del cantón Cuenca. Se trabajo con todo el universo de estudio constituido por 43 alumnos entre el segundo año y séptimo año de básica matriculados en septiembre 2009. Técnicas e instrumentos: Las técnicas de investigación que se utilizo fue: -La encuesta que se realizo a los padres de familia de los niños/as investigados. - La técnica de medición del control antropométrico. Los instrumentos que se utilizaron fueron. Las tablas de índice de masa corporal (IMC). - Las curvas de crecimiento de la NCHS. - Formularios de encuesta sobre la condición socioeconómica. Los resultados fueron sobrepeso 13,93%, obesidad 6,96% y bajo peso 4,64 % En conclusión: en la Escuela Francisco Cisneros se encontró que existe bajo peso, sobrepeso y obesidad pesar del número reducido de estudiantes.
