Prevalencia de depresión, ansiedad y consumo de alcohol en pacientes con artritis reumatoidea, Cuenca, en el año 2012

Abstract

Objective: To establish the prevalence of depression, anxiety and alcohol use in rheumatoid arthritis.- Method and Materials: A descriptive study was performed in the period from July to December 2012. The study was conducted throughout the universe belonging to patients with rheumatoid arthritis attending the group PAIR (Partnership for rheumatoid arthritis patients) in the hospital José Carrasco Arteaga.- For data collection a questionnaire will be used, which will be filled by patients attending the support group. The variables will be summarized and presented in tables and graphs. Statistical analysis was performed using measures of absolute and relative frequencies (percentages) for qualitative variables and by measures of central tendency and dispersion for quantitative variables. Statistical association was determined by the chi square test, Fisher's t test according to the type of variables The patients with anxiety and depression were 83.6% so we can deduce that it is severely high level requiring intervention.- •Female sex was the most affected by depression and anxiety within the group studied.- •The age group most affected by depression and anxiety was the category belonging to the elderly.- •Patients whose occupation housewives was the most affected by anxiety and depression.- •There was a high rate of association with other diseases.•The disease most commonly associated with these patients was Osteoarthritis.- No association with alcohol consumption in the study group.AU
