Frecuencia y caracterización de violencia obstétrica en el Hospital Homero Castanier Crespo. 2017

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: to determine the frequency and characteristics of obstetric vio-lence in users treated in the gynecological-obstetric hospitalization area of Homero Castanier Hospital. MATERIALS AND METHODS: this is an analytical, epidemiological, descrip-tive, transverse study. A data collection form was applied to 260 users of the Gineco-Obstetrics area of Homero Castanier Crespo Hospital who met the in-clusion criteria. The frequency of obstetric violence was reported, in addition to a descriptive analysis in which it is characterized RESULTS: 64.61% of users reported having suffered from some kind of obstetric violence. The mean age was 25,4 years, the group of patients who most frequently indicated were exposed to it were: women with ages equal or less than 20 years with 32.1% Those who completed highschool with 32.5%, 86.9% of mestizo ethnic groups, 53.6% of women who liven in urban areas and 56% of multiparous women, only 6.9% of the users surveyed knew the term Obstetric Violence. Regarding the types of obstetric violence, 48.8% reported violence against the female body, 43.8% reported violence in comunication, 16.9% violence in the provision of services, 17.3% indicated violence against their rights, and finally 41.9% of users presented violence in relations of power. CONCLUSIONS: The frequency of obstetric violence was 64.61%. And most users do not know the term obstetric violence
