| dc.description | Antecedentes: Los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria constituyen un problema de salud mundial, debido a su prevalencia según la UNICEF y la Asociación de Trastornos de la Conducta Alimentaria (TCA), afectando a adolescentes (20%) y mujeres (94%) de 12-36 años. Existen factores que desencadenan la autoestima baja en adolescentes como: imagen corporal, pérdida de peso y la presión social, elevando el riesgo de desencadenar TCA al intentar satisfacer a la sociedad y su propia apariencia por conductas alimentarias extremas. Objetivo: Determinar la autoestima y los trastornos alimenticios en estudiantes de bachillerato de Ciencias del Colegio “Técnico Salesiano” Cuenca, 2025 – 2026. Metodología: Se utilizó el método observacional, con enfoque cuantitativo, analítico y de corte transversal, se identificó a 224 estudiantes de bachillerato de Ciencias del Colegio “Técnico Salesiano”. Se aplicó dos instrumentos: Escala de autoestima de Rosenberg y Cuestionario EAT-26, usando los programas IBM SPSS 27. Para la asociación se utilizó chi-cuadrado (𝑋2), y valor p <0.05. Los resultados son presentados en tabla simple de doble entrada. Resultados: De 224 estudiantes de bachillerato de Ciencias que participaron, el 20,98% posee riesgo de presentar TCA y el 3,1% presentan autoestima media, el 96,88% autoestima baja; además, se identificó que no existe una relación estadísticamente significativa entre la autoestima y los TCA ya que presenta un valor p 0,658. Conclusión: El estudio demostró ausencia de la relación entre la autoestima y los TCA, porque existen posibles factores tales como: salud mental, emocional, ámbito académico y sociocultural, que no nos compete a este estudio. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Background: Eating disorders are a global health problem, due to their prevalence according to UNICEF and the Eating Disorders Association (ED), affecting adolescents (20%) and women (94%) aged 12-36 years. There are factors that trigger low self-esteem in adolescents such as: body image, weight loss and social pressure, increasing the risk of triggering eating disorders when trying to satisfy society and their own appearance through extreme eating behaviors. Objective: To determine self-esteem and eating disorders in high school students of Science at the “Salesian Technical” School Cuenca, 2025 – 2026. Methodology: The observational method was used, with a quantitative, analytical and cross-sectional approach, 224 high school students of Sciences of the “Salesian Technical” School were identified. Two instruments were applied: Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and EAT-26 Questionnaire, using IBM SPSS 27 programs. Chi-square (𝑋2), and a P-value <0.05 were used for the association. The results are presented in a single, double-entry table. Results: Of 224 school science students who participated, 20.98% were at risk of presenting EDs and 3.1% had medium selfesteem, 96.88% had low self-esteem; in addition, it was identified that there is no statistically significant relationship between self-esteem and EDs since it has a p-value of 0.658. Conclusion: The study showed the absence of the relationship between self-esteem and EDs, because there are possible factors such as: mental, emotional, academic and sociocultural health, which are not the subject of this study. | |
