Análisis léxico-semántico del patrimonio toponímico de las parroquias Sayausí y Baños

Abstract

The aim of this research paper is the lexical and semantic analysis about the Sayausí and Baños toponymy “places-names”. This toponymy is the result of the mixed of several functional languages which were spoken as official ones in a certain past time. However, these languages were not registered and nowadays there are just few lexical signs of this kind of toponymy. In addition, they are just used in the spoken language so they could disappear because of phonetic , syntactic and semantic changes which people could make conscious and unconsciously. For this reason, it is so important to do a synchronic research about names which are being spoken and at the same time a diachronic research about the previous languages. Generally, places´ names come from their vernacular languages but our official language is the Spanish so many places names come from it. Several living places had taken Spanish names instead of using the quichuas and cañarís ones which keep history and cultural heritage. Also , the places´s names comes from the daily spoken language so people can use whatever word or lexical unit for naming a given place. In addtition, due to the sociocultural changing in these days, people had forgotten to play with their physcial environment in order to name a specific place and they have preferred to use an arbitrary and commercial toponomy than a cultural one.
