Abstract
In the canton of Cuenca, some rural communities have their own autonomy, which allows them to adequately manage their resources and generate a response to the needs of their population. One of these needs is the supply of drinking water to their beneficiaries. The drinking water supply systems that serve the communities “Conchan de Milagros” and “Tierras Blancas”, belonging to the parish “El Valle”, require maintenance and redesign interventions to improve treatment efficiency. The present work includes an evaluation of the quality of the water supplied in the communities, by taking samples for analysis, inspection of the elements that make up the system through field visits and the redesign of the drinking water treatment plant. The existing infrastructure has been considered. In the case of small communities, a socialization was carried out with each of the beneficiaries in order to gather suggestions, opinions and common problems, seeking solutions to them. Once all the information was collected, a redesign of a slow filter for the community of “Conchan de Milagros” and the design of a slow filter for the community of “Tierras Blancas” were proposed, together with the construction budget.
Resumen
En el cantón de Cuenca, algunas comunidades rurales poseen su propia autonomía, lo que les permite gestionar adecuadamente sus recursos, generando una respuesta a las necesidades de su población. Una de estas necesidades es el suministro de agua potable a sus beneficiarios. Los sistemas de abastecimiento de agua potable que sirven a las comunidades “Conchan de Milagros” y “Tierras Blancas”, pertenecientes a la parroquia “El Valle”, necesitan un mantenimiento y rediseño para mejorar la eficiencia del tratamiento. El presente trabajo de titulación abarca la evaluación de la calidad de agua suministrada en las comunidades a través de toma de muestras para su análisis, inspección de los elementos que componen el sistema mediante visitas de campo y el rediseño de la planta de tratamiento de agua potable. Se tomó en cuenta la infraestructura existente. Al ser comunidades pequeñas, se socializó con cada uno de los beneficiarios con el objetivo de recibir sugerencias, opiniones y problemas en común buscando dar una solución a estos. Luego de analizar toda la información recolectada, se propone un rediseño de un filtro lento para la comunidad de “Conchan de Milagros” y el diseño de un filtro lento para la comunidad de “Tierras Blancas” junto al presupuesto de construcción.
