Abstract
Traditionally, people think that children's literature is only fantastic narrative,
however, from 1943 to 2011 in Mexico lived the surrealist artist of Anglo-Saxon
origin Leonora Carrington, who upset this conception. The present work aimed to
elaborate a story with children's illustrations based on the surrealist aesthetics of
the aforementioned artist. For this, the main theoretical and aesthetic references
of surrealism have been considered. Then Carrington's work has been identified
with regard to illustration in general and children's illustration in particular.
Regarding the artist, her running away from the aristocracy and her looking for
refuge in art stand out as latent autobiographical elements of her work. From this
topic, she has designed an illustrated story with the graphite and charcoal
technique that will be reinforced with a digitization process. Carrington constitutes
a surrealist referent that subtly addresses the universal problematic of the
oppression of the female gender that influences the search for emancipation.
Resumen
Se acostumbra pensar que la literatura infantil es únicamente narrativa
fantástica, sin embargo, desde 1943 hasta el 2011 en México vivió la artista
surrealista de origen anglosajón Leonora Carrington, quien trastocó esta
concepción. El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo elaborar un cuento con
ilustraciones infantiles basado en la estética surrealista de la mencionada artista.
Para ello, se ha considerado a los principales referentes teóricos y estéticos del
surrealismo. Luego, se ha identificado el trabajo de Carrington lo referente a la
ilustración en general y la ilustración infantil en particular. De la artista, se
destaca su huida de la aristocracia y su búsqueda de refugio en el arte, como
elementos autobiográficos latentes de su obra. A partir de este tópico, se ha
diseñado un cuento ilustrado con la técnica del grafito y carboncillo que se
reforzaron con un proceso de digitalización. Carrington constituye un referente
surrealista que aborda sutilmente la problemática universal de la opresión del
género femenino que influye en la búsqueda de la emancipación.
