Resiliencia en niños trabajadores en una Fundación del Sector Feria Libre. Cuenca

Abstract

The objective of the current investigation was to determine the level of resilience that working children of a foundation have in the Feria Libre, an area considered to be strategic due to their vulnerable conditions. For this purpose, a descriptive quantitative study was conducted, a sociodemographic record was applied, and the Inventory of Personal Resilience Factors (Salgado, 2005); an instrument that evaluates self-esteem, empathy, autonomy, humor, creativity and resilience in general through five levels, was used. The population studied consisted of 45 working boys and girls between the age of 7 and 12 years participating in the socioeducational program, Salesian PACES. For the analysis of the data, validity and reliability tests were carried out and frequency and percentage measurements were used. Subsequently, the Kolmogorov Smirnov test was applied to test the same hypothesis that determined the normality of the tests. Finally, the T test of independent was applied. The results obtained in the research indicate very high levels of resilience in the working children who come to the Salesian PACES foundation, showing that they have the capacity to face their adversities, overcome them, or even be transformed by them. Proving that child labor has not been a determining factor for low resilience in participants.
