La organización de mujeres: una experiencia de participación y empoderamiento en la parroquia San Cristóbal

Abstract

This research was carried out in the San Cristóbal parish, canton Paute, in the women's organization “Caja de ahorro y Crédito”, between the months of June-2019 until March-2020, in which, the history of the organization from its formation to the present is shown. In this work, the following were analyzed: access to credit, gender roles, gender division of labor, the sense of belonging to the domestic space, the fear of entering the organizational spaces, empowerment and the participation of the members. The spaces generated in the organization of women and the experience acquired are valued by women, all these actions and interactions allowed effective participation in the different socio-organizational activities that broke with the daily routine of the domestic environment and allowed them to enter socially reserved spaces for males. The experiences achieved indicated that the women of the organization have a before and an after, since, by participating, fears are transformed into security, self-esteem and thus end up empowering themselves
