Recuperación de espacios públicos recreativos en el centro histórico de Cuenca ante la pandemia del COVID-19. Caso de estudio: Plaza del Arte

Abstract

Recreational public spaces in the historic center of Cuenca, especially those that offer greater interaction both with their recreational, sports or leisure activities, are sometimes subject to a series of problems that prevent their users from completely take advantage of them. These problems, sometimes small or large, act to the detriment of the social well-being and the urban image of the entire city. Hence the need to recover these public spaces, to offer solutions and make the most of their capacity, which could sometimes generate unique projects that are coherent with the historical and cultural context in which they are found. In conjunction with the aforementioned, it is necessary to consider a catastrophic event that affected not only Cuenca and Ecuador, but every corner of the world, the pandemic caused by the COVID 19 virus. For this reason, the objective of this work is to carry out of a preliminary draft of recovery of the recreational park "Plaza del Arte" based on 3 previous stages (theoretical framework, diagnosis, criteria and strategies), so that it becomes a proposal for cultural, social rescue and prevention against the pandemic, key point against the adverse times that we live
