Relación entre autoestima y felicidad en estudiantes de la Licenciatura en Psicología en situación de migración interna de la Universidad de Cuenca, período lectivo 2022-2023

Abstract

Recent research has found that a large number of university students are forced to migrate due to academic reasons, therefore they are exposed to a series of factors that can affect self-esteem and happiness, which are two important variables within psychological well-being. The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between self-esteem and happiness in students of the Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in a situation of internal migration at the University of Cuenca, academic year 2022-2023. The approach was quantitative, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional and correlational design. For the analysis of the variables, descriptive and correlational statistics were used, with which percentages, relative and absolute frequencies, arithmetic mean and Pearson's correlation coefficient were obtained. The study involved 115 students in a situation of internal migration, to whom the Alarcón Happiness Scale and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale were applied. The results showed a significant and positive relationship between the variables. It is concluded that the higher the levels of self-esteem, the higher the levels of happiness in psychology students in a situation of internal migration.
