Abstract
The rites of passage, such as death, acquire a formal social function and also of symbolic representation of solidarity within religious communities. Mourners and religious orders will devote to create invitations for praying and funeral ceremonies of the deceased. These cards, due to their artistic component and content, constitute a documental asset, and an instrument that strengthens the cultural heritage and the memory of Cuenca´s society in the beginnings of the 20th century.
Resumen
Los ritos de paso, como la muerte, adquieren una función social de solidaridad en las comunidades religiosas de tipo formal y de representación simbólica. Los deudos y las órdenes religiosas, se dedicarán a realizar invitaciones para las oraciones y honras fúnebres del difunto. Estas tarjetas funerarias, por lo artístico y por su contenido, se constituyen en un bien documental patrimonial e instrumento que fortalece el acervo cultural y la memoria sobre la sociedad cuencana de comienzos del siglo XX.
