Abstract
Introduction: The delay of psychomotor development represents a public health problem today because it conditions different complications throughout the child's life and later in his adult stage.
Objective: To describe the family profile and the delay in psychomotor development in children 0-5 years of age belonging to the parishes of Sayausí and El Vecino.
Methodology: It was a quantitative, observational, analytical and cross-sectional study that was carried out in the parishes of Sayausí and El Vecino, evaluating children between 0 and 5 years old using the Denver test and their families were interviewed using a questionnaire which covered the general characteristics of father and mother, socioeconomic status of the family, functionality and type of family. The variables were quantitative and qualitative, being assessed through the SPSS statistical program in its most updated version.
Results: A result of the 140 children evaluated were 73.6% normal, 17.90% at risk; 7.90% doubtful and 0.70% late, significantly relating to socioeconomic factors, age of the mother and substance use by the parents, as well as the nutritional status of the child
Conclusions: It is concluded that the family profile, socioeconomic stratification, substance use habits of the parents and the nutritional status of the child, are 26.4% related to the risk and delay in psychomotor development of children 0 5 years from the parishes of Sayausí and El Vecino
