RIESGO DE CONSUMO DE ALCOHOL Y DROGAS EN ESTUDIANTES DE BACHILLERATO DE LA UNIDAD EDUCATIVA MANUEL CÓRDOVA GALARZA, CUENCA 2024 - 2025

Abstract

The risk of substance use is a multifactorial phenomenon determined by internal and external factors that generate vulnerability in adolescence. Objective: To identify the level of risk of alcohol and drug use in high school students of the Manuel Córdova Galarza Educational Unit, Cuenca 2024 - 2025. Method: A quantitative, analytical and cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 223 students; data were collected through a sociodemographic data survey and the AUDIT, ASSIST and APGAR FAMILIAR instruments; SPSS v 25 and Excel programs were used for data analysis. Results: 51.1% of the sample was female; 59.6% belonged to middle adolescence, with a higher participation of third year high school students with 42.2%; 74.4% belonged to a functional family and 67.7% did not present migration of any of their parents. The study revealed low risk levels of consumption with 93.3% for alcohol and 76.7% for drugs. On the other hand, the sociodemographic variables showed no significant association with alcohol consumption, with the exception of family functionality, which showed a statistically significant relationship (P=0.039); likewise, substance consumption revealed a significant association in two variables, age (P=0.026) and family functionality (P=0.039).
