Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas en anticoncepción de las mujeres recicladoras de la ciudad de Cuenca año 2017

Abstract

Introduction: The work we present below focuses on determining knowledge. Objective: to determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices of women recyclers in the city of Cuenca.

Methods and materials: It is a quantitative, descriptive study, the universe was constituted by 300 women and a sample was taken for the convenience of 62 women recyclers from the city of Cuenca.

Results: The average age of the women surveyed is 35.5 years of which 30.6% are married and 25.8% are single. Regarding education, 54.8% have studied only primary and 27.4% have not had any education. 69.4% said they have information on contraception, and 83.9% believe that contraceptives if they avoid unwanted pregnancies and protect from STDs. 75.8% reported knowing 2 or more contraceptive methods, 3.2% knew at least 1 and 8.1% did not know any method. 46.8% think that ignorance of the topic is the main reason why contraceptives are not used. 64.5% have ever used a contraceptive method, of which 22.6%

Conclusions: the average age of women is 35.5 years, 30.6% were married and 27.4% were illiterate, 69.4% said they had information about contraception, and 75.8% know about it. 2 or more methods and on the contrary only 8.1% do not know any method. 64.5% have ever used a contraceptive method, 40.3% always use them, but 37.1% never use them
