Reconstrucción de la historia del movimiento LGBTI+ en Cuenca en el periodo 1997-2017, a través de historias de vida

Abstract

The objective of this research is to reconstruct the struggles of the LGBTI + movement in Cuenca and its main historical milestones in the period between 1997 and 2017. The study has a qualitative approach as the life history research technique was used, which is also considered a journalistic genre. The protagonists of the life histories are José Sánchez and Vanessa Morocho, two Cuencan activists who have had a political and social influence in the city in favor of the LGBTI rights. For the construction of the life histories in-depth interviews, bibliographic-documentary review, and the narration of the activists were used to reflect their human side and through their voices they give an account of the struggles of the LGBTI movement in Cuenca. In addition, a survey was carried out to find out the opinion of sexually diverse people on the legal regulations of the rights for this population. This research is a first record of this collective struggle; however, it cannot be said that this is the only story, because stories change depending on who tells them
