Abstract
The purpose of this research is to describe perceptions of Quality of Life of people deprived of
liberty originating in the Southern region and people in mobility in the Detention Centre of
Freedom of Turi, based on their personal characteristics, environment and social relationships. The
study was carried out with a cross-sectional design of descriptive scope and involved 127 people
deprived of liberty, 81 from the southern region and 46 people in mobility, whose ages ranged
from 20 to 68 years old. For data collection, the World Health Organization Quality of Life
Questionnaire was used in its short Spanish version (WHOQOL-BREF), which consists of 26
questions on Likert's scale, which aim is to be conscious of the life quality received by the subject
in order to create an accurate allowing us to give a score of the areas defined by the WhoQol Group
(1995). The results obtained indicate that there is a significant percentage of perception of Quality
of Life within the middle range, while among the domains with lower scores such as environment
and psychological health; and the best score is for social relations. In addition, it was possible to
determine that while the time in which people are deprived of liberty may occur handling of
answers to obtain better life quality while their sentence. In relation to the results obtained it was
concluded that there is a possibility that the space and conditions one is living in the CPL-Turi
during the sentencing time will be normalized. In addition, the process of integration to a new
social group within the Centre provide of relevant support to meet different needs.
Resumen
La presente investigación tuvo como propósito describir las percepciones de Calidad de Vida en
personas privadas de libertad originarias de la región austral y personas en situación de movilidad
en el Centro de Privación de Libertad de Turi, con base en sus características personales, ambiente
y relaciones sociales. El estudio se realizó con un diseño transversal de alcance descriptivo y contó
con la participación de 127 personas privadas de libertad, 81 originarios de la región austral y 46
personas en situación de movilidad, cuyas edades oscilaron entre 20 y 68 años. Para la recolección
de datos se utilizó el cuestionario World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire en su
versión breve en español (WHOQOL-BREF), que consta de 26 preguntas en escala de Likert, cuyo
objetivo es conocer la Calidad de Vida percibida por la persona para aportar un perfil de Calidad
de Vida y dar una puntuación global de las áreas delimitadas por el WhoQol Group (1995). Los
resultados obtenidos señalan que existe un porcentaje importante de percepción de Calidad de Vida
dentro del rango medio, mientras que entre los dominios con más baja puntuación están: ambiente
y salud psicológica; y la mejor puntuada es la de las relaciones sociales. Además, se pudo
determinar que el tiempo en el que se encuentran privados de libertad las personas podrían ocurrir
la manipulación de las respuestas para obtener mejores puntuaciones penitenciarias. En relación a
los resultados obtenidos se concluyó que existe la posibilidad de que se normalice el espacio y
condiciones en las que viven en el CPL-Turi y en el tiempo de sentencia. Además, el proceso de
integración a un nuevo grupo social dentro del centro, les permite contar con el apoyo pertinente
para satisfacer diferentes necesidades.
