Las voces que hacen eco en el sendero: identificación de caminos antiguos en el cantón Sígsig

Abstract

Roads within anthropology are much more than simple geographical means to connect points. Immersed in all societies, the road is always linked to interpretations, needs and ecologies, which overlap through time, since they depend of the variations in its uses, activities developed on it, and the cultural contact with other areas. The case of canton Sígsig is totally chained to that: for its historical background and geographical position, the area counts with an important network of ancient roads that connect the canton through various interpretations and needs, adapted to the topography of the place. Under an anthropological approach, the current work pretends to identify some of these roads with the aim of recovery the significations in torn to these, through the use of ethnographic methods, like the interview and social cartography; technological, such as the use of GIS and photography; and bibliographic compilation, which allow reconstructing the importance of traditional road networks, in addition to elaborating a speech that justifies the relevance of the canton and its inhabitants, with the aim of projecting new investigations on this field, which contribute with a deeper look at it
