Abstract
Astrotourism is considered as a tourism of special interests to unite
science, culture and leisure, where its main objective is to provide experiences
significant, at the same time that it provides knowledge about the celestial vault.
Chile is one of the pioneer countries in developing and providing services related to
astrotourism, so this research considers this case as an object of
study.
At present, the new tendencies and preferences of the tourist, force the
providers of this activity to innovate, project themselves and offer new alternatives that
generate experiences. To achieve this goal, it has been proposed to
astrotourism in the city of Cuenca, on the Guagualzhumi hill, a place with a lot of
history and culture, and which also has its own elements for this activity,
as a viewpoint that lends itself to the observation of the celestial vault.
This degree work, through a quantitative study, presents the
Degree of reception and preferences of national and foreign tourists
interested in carrying out this activity.
As a result of data processing in the surveys, it was possible to establish the
convenient price to be applied for the operation of said activity. with app
of relevant financial indicators such as IRR and VAN, it was possible to identify the
project viability.

Resumen
El astroturismo es considerado como un turismo de intereses especiales por unir
ciencia, cultura y ocio, donde su objetivo principal es brindar experiencias
significativas, al mismo tiempo que aporta conocimiento sobre la bóveda celeste.
Chile es uno de los países pioneros en desarrollar y prestar servicios relacionados al
astroturismo, por lo que esta investigación considera este caso como objeto de
estudio.
En la actualidad, las nuevas tendencias y preferencias del turista, obligan a los
prestadores de esta actividad a innovar, proyectarse y ofrecer nuevas alternativas que
generen experiencias. Para lograr este cometido, se ha propuesto realizar
astroturismo en la ciudad de Cuenca, en el cerro Guagualzhumi, lugar con mucha
historia y cultura, y que además cuenta con elementos propios para esta actividad,
como un mirador que se presta para la observación de la bóveda celeste.
Este trabajo de titulación, a través de un estudio de carácter cuantitativo, presenta el
grado de acogida y las preferencias de los turistas nacionales y extranjeros
interesados para realizar dicha actividad.
Como resultado del procesamiento de datos en las encuestas, se pudo establecer el
precio conveniente a aplicarse para la operatividad de dicha actividad. Con aplicación
de indicadores financieros relevantes como son TIR y VAN, fue posible identificar la
viabilidad del proyecto.
