Abstract
The present investigation focuses on the gender gaps in the distribution and implementation of domestic tasks among students of men and women of the “José María Vélez extension 58- A” Educational Unit Sinincay, during the year 2024. The problem is rooted in the persistent desire in the assignment of responsibilities of the company, affecting the academic and personal life of the women. The objective of the investigation was to identify and analyze the differences in the implementation of domestic tasks between men and women, as well as the use of time allocated to these activities. The population protagonist of this study is made up of students of both sexes of the mentioned educational unit. A quantitative methodology was applied, using structured cues to collect data regarding participation in domestic tasks, the use of time and perceptions regarding gender roles. The data were analyzed statistically to identify patrons and trends in the distribution of responsibilities. The main hallmarks indicate that studying women take on the majority of household tasks, dedicating more hours to activities such as preparing food, caring for children and washing clothes. In contrast, men are mainly involved in the maintenance of their home and vehicles. Considering that both genders recognize the need for a more equitable distribution, cultural norms and stereotypes that perpetuate desire persist. These results highlight the need to promote responsibility in the workplace and implement policies that support women in their academic and personal development.
Resumen
La presente investigación centrada en las brechas de género en la distribución y realización de tareas domésticas entre estudiantes hombres y mujeres de la Unidad Educativa “José María Vélez extensión 58-A” Sinincay, durante el año 2024. El problema radica en la desigualdad persistente en la asignación de responsabilidades del hogar, afectando la vida académica y personal de las mujeres. El objetivo de la investigación fue identificar y analizar las diferencias en la realización de tareas domésticas entre hombres y mujeres, así como el uso del tiempo destinado a estas actividades. La población protagonista de este estudio estuvo compuesta por estudiantes de ambos sexos de la mencionada unidad educativa. Se aplicó una metodología cuantitativa, utilizando encuestas estructuradas para recolectar datos sobre la participación en tareas domésticas, el uso del tiempo y las percepciones respecto a los roles de género. Los datos fueron analizados estadísticamente para identificar patrones y tendencias en la distribución de responsabilidades. Los principales hallazgos indican que las mujeres estudiantes asumen la mayor parte de las tareas domésticas, dedicando más horas a actividades como la preparación de alimentos, el cuidado de niños y el lavado de ropa. En contraste, los hombres se involucran principalmente en el mantenimiento del hogar y vehículos. A pesar de que ambos géneros reconocen la necesidad de una distribución más equitativa, persisten normas culturales y estereotipos que perpetúan la desigualdad. Estos resultados evidencian la necesidad de promover corresponsabilidad en el hogar e implementar políticas que apoyen a las mujeres en su desarrollo académico y personal.
