Diseño definitivo de las vías de reposición para los embalses Aguacatal y Lechugal 2 del proyecto “PACALORI”

Abstract

The PACALORI project consists of thirteen dams, whose reservoirs will affect the road network in the area. In order to determine the roads affected by the height of the maximum water level of the reservoir (NAM for its acronym in Spanish) produced by Aguacatal and Lechugal 2 dams, an update of the road inventory in the area has been made. Having identified the affected roads, the road inventory was analyzed in order to determine the replenishment roads required, considering that houses and areas affected by the dams will not remain isolated from the road network. Seven replenishment roads were found as a result of this analysis and these were classified as low-volume roads, with a total length of 4.27 km. For the established replenishment roads, it has been made the final designs according to the current regulations of the Republic of Ecuador, and which are conformed by preliminary studies (geological, geomorphological, traffic, and subgrade), draw the zero line, geometric design (horizontal and vertical alignment), pavement design, minor drainage structures design, and earthwork analysis. Finally, the construction quantities were determined and it was estimated and approximate budget of construction for each one of the seven replenishment roads.
