Efectos que causa la iluminación natural sobre el confort del ser humano en viviendas de interés social

Abstract

The main objective of this thesis is to help the less economically favored sector of society, by diagnosing the deficiencies in terms of lighting comfort in social housing, and how these deficiencies affect their quality of life, both physically and psychologically, taking into account factors such as natural lighting, temperature, window design, modifications made by the users, and the uses they have given to different spaces in their homes. From the analysis of the measured factors, a mixed method, both qualitative and quantitative, is used to evaluate the physical measurements and the inhabitants’ perception of the comfort experiences in their homes. The research begins with the analysis of the housing complexes located in the canton of Cuenca, Vista al Rio and Los Capulíes, where the inhabitants were surveyed to obtain qualitative data on the perception of comfort in the houses. As a second instance, a comparative analysis was made based on measurements inside the houses, where it was determined whether the light and thermal levels are within the range suggested by the NEC, and thus determine whether both qualitatively and quantitatively, the houses meet both the requirements imposed by the regulations and their architectural function of being a permanent and safe space where a person can live with his family and revitalize both physically and emotionally. Based on this analysis, a series of guidelines are generated which, when considered, contribute to an adequate management of natural lighting that can be applied within a social housing project.
