Abstract
The aim of this research is to relate with the sociodemographic variables, the risk of
Cannabis use in fifth year students of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Cuenca.
Therefore, the research universe was constituted by 90 students of the psychology faculty
between 21 and 36 years old, 55 of the clinical psychology career, 21 of educational
psychology and 14 of social psychology. The information collected is given by applying the
Cannabis Abuse Screening Test (CAST) scale in order to obtain data that can be compared
with the sociodemographic record. Through the analysis of the applications to the population
group investigated, it was possible to know that 42 students stated that they had consumed
cannabis at some time, and of these almost all had done so recreationally, in addition to those
who had consumed, two thirds had done so in the last 12 months. However, no relationship
was found between the variables of the sociodemographic card: sex, study day, high school
institution, career, etc.; and the CAST scale.
Resumen
El objetivo de la presente investigación es relacionar con las variables
sociodemográficas el riesgo de consumo de Cannabis en estudiantes de quinto año de la
Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Cuenca. La muestra de la investigación estuvo
constituida por 90 estudiantes de la facultad de psicología con edades comprendidas entre los
21 y 36 años, 55 de la carrera de psicología clínica, 21 de psicología educativa y 14 de
psicología social. La información recopilada se da a partir de la aplicación de la escala
Cannabis Abuse Screening Test (CAST) con el propósito de obtener datos que permitan ser
comparados con la ficha sociodemográfica. A través del análisis de las aplicaciones al grupo
poblacional investigado, se pudo conocer que 42 estudiantes manifestaron haber consumido
cannabis alguna vez, y de ellos casi todos lo han hecho de forma recreativa; además, de
quienes han consumido, las dos terceras partes lo han hecho en el lapso de los últimos 12
meses. Sin embargo, no se encontró relación entre las variables de la ficha sociodemográfica:
sexo, jornada de estudio, institución de bachillerato, carrera, etc.; y la escala CAST.
