Efecto de la adición de ajo (Allium sativum) y cebolla (Allium cepa) en la crianza de pollos de engorde sobre morfometría de la vellosidad intestinal y parámetros productivos

Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the effects of the inclusion of garlic (Allium sativum) and onion (Allium cepa) in productive parameters, lymphoid organs, and intestinal morphometry. The study was conducted at the Irquis Farm of the University of Cuenca, where 192-day-old chicks were fed a commercial diet, and an infusion of garlic and onion was used. A completely random design was implemented with four treatments: T1 (control); T2 (BC + 0,75% garlic); T3 (BC + 2,25% onion); T4 (BC + 3% garlic + onion) and each with three repetitions of 16 experimental units. The results showed no significant differences in the productive parameters; however, significant differences were observed in the other variables of the study. The productive index had values of 380,15, 373,08, 293,38 and 271,15. The lymphoid organs in the Fabricius pouch obtained results of 4,33 g weight, 2,49 cm wide, and 3,36 cm long, while the thymus recorded a length of 13,98 cm. In intestinal morphometry, T2 presented values of 733,55 in length and the measurement of the crypt was 36,74, while the T3 obtained values 797,60 of in length and 42,51 in depth. It was determined that the incorporation of garlic and onion individually affects productivity, on the other hand, lymphoid organs showed immunomodulatory effects by combining both compounds
