Características del sexting en los estudiantes de medicina de la Universidad de Cuenca. 2022-2023

Abstract

Background: sexting is a phenomenon that in recent years has gained importance due to technological advances, which have allowed university students to have greater access to the internet and communication platforms, making it part of their daily lives, but with a great ignorance of the consequences. Objective: to determine the characteristics of sexting in medical students at the “Universidad de Cuenca”. 2022 - 2023. Methods: this is an observational, descriptive, quantitative study. A total of 187 surveys were applied to students enrolled in the ninth and tenth cycle of the medical career at the “Universidad de Cuenca”, the information was tabulated using Microsoft Excel 2016 and the SPSS 25.0 program, the information was analyzed and presented using frequency and percentage tables. Results: of the study population, 82.55% are older than 22 years, women 60.40%, single 96.64%, from the Sierra 74.50%, tenth cycle students 72.48%; They practice sexting 73.83%, according to the type 48.32% are active and 25. 50% are passive; They use cell phone 79.39%, WhatsApp 56.17%; They practice with their boyfriend/girlfriend 65.94%; Consequence: damage to privacy 20.29%; Motivations: good mood 38.18%, being alone 35.45% and because they want to have sex 45.45%. Conclusion: Sexting is practiced by more than half of the population, mostly of the active type, the results point to the fact that sexting is common in this population with little knowledge about its consequences.
