Reacciones emocionales y comportamientos en pacientes con cáncer de mama mastectomizadas en el Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, en Cuenca 2014

Abstract

Our main objective is to determine the emotional reactions and behaviors of patients undergone Mastectomy. It is a qualitative study, explorative of fundamental theory, narrative and its universe are 6 patients older than 18 years old, entered at the Hospital Jose Carrasco Arteaga on the year 2014, selected by convenience and saturation, the technique that we had used were life histories and the instrument, the semi structured interview. We used the software Atlas Ti, to process the information.

The notice of a possible or real mastectomy leads emotions; fear to die, sadness and cry at losing an organ that represent feminine naturally, depression, for who were mothers, they children were their motivation and principal preoccupation. Who had finished their function of raise and feed their children, the breast represents a little comparing with to die, in case of a complication after the mastectomy. The fear that the patients express the moment they find out increased without information, developing curiosity of each procedure, for each medical word unknown, 3 patients referred need of the information about the pathology.

The episodes of depression, increased after they body visualization, the impact that cause the loss of their breast, by insignificant it looks, change the general perspective of life.

Finally, the acceptance of surgery becomes in a positive indicator for each patient, but at the same time it is evidence in 3 women, that impulse us to find a way to get the same and ameliorate the quality of health in each human been.
