Abstract
It is frequent that the ravines are used as destination of the waste water of the nearby inhabitants and that, despite the contamination in several senses that this implies, due to economic reasons of these families, do not have an adequate sewage infrastructure.
This study aims to determine the economic value that the inhabitants of the neighborhoods of Virgen de las Nieves and the Tablón de Miraflores to the Shirincay ravine assign as a sewer service. For this valuation, the contingent valuation method (CVM) is used.
The objective of this study is to determine if this value allows to finance the construction of an adequate infrastructure, however, the results showed that the willingness to pay of this population is insufficient to be able to finance such infrastructure suggesting the possibility of a state subsidy.
Resumen
Es frecuente que las quebradas sean utilizadas como destino de las aguas servidas de los habitantes cercanos y que, a pesar de la contaminación en varios sentidos que este hecho implica, debido a razones económicas de estas familias, no se cuente con una infraestructura adecuada de alcantarillado.
Este estudio tiene como objetivo determinar el valor económico que asignan los habitantes de los barrios Virgen de las Nieves y el Tablón de Miraflores a la quebrada Shirincay como un servicio de alcantarillado. Para esta valoración, se recurre al método de valoración contingente (MVC).
El objetivo es determinar si este valor permite financiar la construcción de una infraestructura adecuada, sin embargo, los resultados muestran que la disposición al pago de esta población es insuficiente para poder financiar dicha infraestructura lo que sugiera la posibilidad de un subsidio estatal.
