Abstract
The present volume is the third in the series of reports of the Capacity and Networking Project (CANP) of the International Commission on Mathematical Instruction (ICMI). It is the outcome of the intensive work that was carried out during and following CANP5 that was held in Lima, Peru for two weeks in February 2016. CANP5 brought together mathematics educators in the Andean Region (Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia) and Paraguay. The workshop engaged the many participants in a range of mathematical and mathematics education activities. A key component of the workshop was the four country reports on mathematics teacher education. This volume brings together this significant work and insights developed during the workshop across the delegates from participating countries. It is thus a very important resource for all working in mathematics teacher education internationally.The successes and challenges described in the book, while illuminating of conditions in under-resourced countries globally, are all part of the landscape that must inform our collective work as an organization.
Resumen
El presente volumen es el tercero de la serie de informes del Proyecto de Capacidad y Redes (CANP) de la Comisión Internacional de Instrucción Matemática (ICMI). Es el resultado del trabajo intensivo que se llevó a cabo durante y después de CANP5 que se realizó en Lima, Perú, durante dos semanas en febrero de 2016. CANP5 reunió a educadores de matemáticas en la Región Andina (Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia) y Paraguay. El taller involucró a los muchos participantes en una variedad de actividades de educación matemática y matemática. Un componente clave del taller fueron los informes de cuatro países sobre la formación docente de matemáticas. Este volumen reúne este importante trabajo y las ideas desarrolladas.
