Prevalencia y características de los accidentes en el hogar que presentaron los niños/as menores de 5 años de la parroquia El Valle, Cuenca 2013

Abstract

Background.- Research is important because home is where you spend the most time throughout life.

Objective.- This research allowed us to describe the prevalence and characteristics of accidents in the home who had children / as under 5 years of the parish "The Valley".

Material and Methods.- A prevalence study aimed to describe the characteristics of accidents in the home of children under 5 years of the Parish "The Valley". We worked with a finite universe consisting of 2921 children. A sample was determined by selection involving 184 children whose mothers signed consent for voluntary participation in the research. As the interview technique was used as a form instrument validated by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). The data are presented in tables that describe the absolute and relative frequencies of the study variables.

Results: 184 children had accidents in the home, 28.9% of them are 2-3 years old, the most common accidents are the trauma with 63.6%. The 39.7% of the population lives with mom, dad and children their house type dwellings are in the 82.6%. The 91.8% who have had accidents children have recovered.

Conclusions: The children were treated at the scene of the accident in this case the home by a family member and are not reported to the sub-center which causes alteration in the consolidated monthly and are as if they never existed.
