Abstract
The Andean worldview is a philosophy of life that combines four fundamental principles: complementarity, reciprocity, correspondence, and relationality that allows the connection of all the elements of the cosmos from the individual and the collective in compliance with nature. Besides, it presents symbols and deities that arise from the cults of ancient indigenous peoples and that have endured through time because of oral tradition. As for its part, illustration, as a means of artistic expression, uses different traditional and digital techniques to represent thoughts, social complaints, and personality, among other aspects. Therefore, through this
research, the predominant concepts that take part in this worldview were identified and represented with illustrations. The creation of these works was influenced by illustrators and artists who have stood out for fusing traditional and modern styles, such as Wylie Beckert, Audrey Benjaminsen, Allen Williams, Ashley Wood, Eduardo Villacís, Patricio Betteo, and Tan Zhi Hui. In other words, the works created in this study have, as a conceptual basis, the representation of the most preponderant aspects of Andean philosophy, and, as an artistic basis, traditional and digital illustration to revalue the Andean cosmovision in the art world. The exhibition of these works is on the online platform, Behance, which allows many people around the world to
observe them. Thereby, it will give the continuity to vindicate the importance of the Andean
cosmovision according to the objective of this research.
Resumen
La cosmovisión andina es una filosofía de vida que comprende de cuatro principios fundamentales: complementariedad, reciprocidad, correspondencia y relacionalidad que permiten la conexión de todos los elementos del cosmos desde lo individual y lo colectivo en conformidad con la naturaleza. Además, presenta símbolos y deidades que surgen de los cultos de los pueblos indígenas antiguos y que han perdurado gracias a la tradición oral. Por su parte, la ilustración, como un medio de expresión artística, usa diferentes técnicas tradicionales y digitales para representar pensamientos, denuncias sociales, personalidad, entre otros aspectos más. Así que, por medio de esta investigación, se identificó los conceptos predominantes que componen esta cosmovisión con el objetivo de representarlos con ilustraciones. La creación de estas obras se muestra claramente influenciadas por ilustradores y artistas que se han destacado por fusionar estilos tradicionales y modernos como: Wylie Beckert, Audrey Benjaminsen, Allen Williams, Ashley Wood, Eduardo Villacís, Patricio Betteo y Tan Zhi Hui. Es decir, las obras que se han creado en este estudio tienen como base conceptual la representación de los aspectos más preponderantes de la filosofía andina y como base artística la ilustración tradicional y digital con el propósito de revalorizar la cosmovisión andina en el mundo del arte. Además, la exposición de estas obras se encuentra en la plataforma online Behance: https://www.behance.net/gallery/105890599/La-Cosmovision-Andina-a-travs-de-la Ilustracion, lo que favorece su visualización a un sinnúmero de espectadores desde cualquier parte del mundo; y, de esta manera, reivindica la importancia de la cosmovisión andina conforme con el objetivo planteado de esta tesis.
