dc.descriptionLa presente investigación trata sobre el oficio de la joyería en Saraguro (Loja, Ecuador), desde 1980 al 2018. Por medio del trabajo etnográfico (entrevista y observación participante) esta tesis describe la conformación de un taller de joyería, las herramientas, las técnicas, el comercio, como también el uso de las joyas por parte de los saraguros. La investigación abarca el periodo de 1980 al 2018, pues durante este tiempo se dieron diferentes cambios sociales que influyeron en la rama artesanal de la joyería; los orfebres, incorporaron maquinarias en sus talleres, lo que les obligó a cambiar las técnicas de elaboración de las joyas. Por otra parte, los clientes invadidos por la globalización y la moda exigen nuevas tendencias, tipos, tamaños y colores de piedras en las joyasen_US
dc.description.abstractThis research deals with the jewelry trade in Saraguro (Loja, Ecuador), from 1980 to 2018. Through ethnographic work (interview and participant observation), this thesis describes the formation of a jewelry workshop, the tools, the techniques, commerce, as well as the use of jewels by the Saraguros. The research covers the period from 1980 to 2018, because during this time there were different social changes that influenced the artisanal branch of jewelry; specifically goldsmiths, incorporated machinery, and evolution of jewelry crafting techniques. On the other hand, the globalization of society and fashion demands created new trends, types, sizes and colors of stones in jewelryen_US
