Aplicación del lavado de manos y uso de mascarillas frente a la emergencia sanitaria COVID-19 en los comerciantes del mercado Privado de Macas, 2021

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: COVID-19, a global health problem that constitutes the greatest challenge, began in Asia at the end of 2019, expanding to every continent, except Antarctica (1). Cases increased rapidly in all countries, affecting a large part of the population and causing high rates of morbidity and mortality. Hand washing and the use of a mask are essential barriers to stop its rapid expansion. OBJECTIVE: To determine the application of hand washing and the use of masks against the health emergency COVID -19 in the merchants of the "Private" market of Macas, 2021. METHODOLOGY: A study was carried out with a quantitative approach, a descriptive analytical cross-sectional type, with a sample of 95 merchants. Data were collected using a questionnaire created by the authors. The results were analyzed with the SPSS version 2.1 program and represented in tables and graphs. RESULTS: 62.1% are women; 69.5% mixed race; 41.1% married and single; 28.4% complete primary and high school; 41.1% in ages 18 to 55 years. The level of application of the study was medium, the percentages in the proposed variables are higher than 33.32%. Participants carry out hand washing, although not all do it adequately; 44.2% on a daily frequency of 4 to 7 times for 10 to 20 seconds and 34.7% throughout the day. 45% frequently cover the mouth and nose; 49.5% use the hygienic mask and 44.2% consider that these measures are necessarily effective.
