Abstract
The present research: Reading motivation project with the use of pictograms for Initial
Education, has as purpose, develop a reading motivation project for children of Initial Level II
from the approach with pictograms, in order for teachers to find new activities regarding the
reading. To develop this study, a diagnosis was formulated from the application of a semistructured interview and the observation of five classes in Initial Level II of a fiscal institution in
the city of Cuenca. After the investigation and the analysis of the results, it was evidenced that the
animation of reading with the use of pictograms is developed in a fragmented way; In other words,
although pictograms are rarely used, the reading process is not developed, nor is it integrated into
the learning environments proposed by the Early Childhood Education curriculum; For this reason,
a sequence of activities is proposed to motivate children towards reading with the application of
pictograms and that is a useful tool for the teacher of Initial Level II to apply it in the development
of their classes.
Resumen
La presente investigación: Proyecto de motivación lectora con el uso de pictogramas para
Educación Inicial, pretende elaborar un proyecto de motivación lectora para niños del Nivel
Inicial II desde el enfoque con pictogramas, con el fin de que los docentes encuentren nuevas
actividades en cuanto a la lectura. Para desarrollar el presente estudio se formuló un diagnóstico a
partir de la aplicación de una entrevista semiestructurada a dos docentes y de la observación de
cinco clases en Nivel Inicial II de una institución fiscal de la ciudad de Cuenca. Luego de la
investigación y del análisis de los resultados se evidenció que la animación a la lectura con el uso
de pictogramas se lo desarrolla de manera fragmentada; es decir, si bien se usan escasamente los
pictogramas, no se desarrolla el proceso de lectura, tampoco se lo integra a los ámbitos de
aprendizaje propuestos por el currículo de Educación Inicial; por esta razón, se propone una
secuencia de actividades para motivar a los niños hacia la lectura con la aplicación de pictogramas
con el fin de que sea una herramienta útil y para que el docente de Nivel Inicial II la aplique en
el desarrollo de sus clases.
