Lineamientos para la intervención en las márgenes del río Yanuncay: sector comprendido entre Av. 12 de Octubre hasta los Tres Puentes

Abstract

The riverbanks are not only considered as floodplains, but also, as recreational and leisure spaces that generate meeting points in different areas of the city.

In these spaces, people perform different sporting activities and they make use of the infrastructure and of the furniture implemented in the riverbanks. Therefore, the good condition of all the elements that make up this recreational space, should exist, generating security and comfort for users.

The study focuses on the Yanuncay riverbank, in the area between the 12 de Octubre Avenue and the bridge called Tres Puentes, in which each element of this space is analyzed and evaluated in order to know the current state of the study area, detect problems and establish guidelines such as the solutions to the problems that are encountered.

The information is obtained through surveys carried out in the field. A characterization of the recreational space is made, along with an exploration of perceptions and an exploration of activities. At the end, guidelines for the intervention that improve the current state of the recreational space of the Yanuncay river margin are presented.

The evaluation of the recreational space is interpreted as the determination of the current physical state, its use and accessibility; that is, if the use is high, the physical state is good and it has proper accessibility. Therefore, the evaluation will be positive; Similarly, if the use is less, the physical state is bad and does not allow proper accessibility, the assessment will be low. Throughout this process, several quality indicators are analyzed.
