For the purpose of this study, two objectives were proposed: the Spanish adaptation of the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE) created by Schwarzer and Jerusalem (1995) in order to be used in the ecuadorian context and the evaluation of the reproduction of the factorial structure proposed by its authors, considering a sample of 567 participants. The reliability, dimensionality and validity of the scale were analyzed. The results show an adequate internal consistency, excellent discrimination indices for each item, high factor loads and also a convergent and discriminant validity against the Wellbeing and negative emotions constructs (PERMA). We may conclude that the data adjust well the theoretical model, obtaining a useful tool for health professionals in the ecuadorian context.Publication Adaptación del perfil PERMA en una muestra ecuatoriana(2017) Lima Castro, Sandra Eugenia; Peña Contreras, Eva Karina; Cedillo Quizhpe, Isabel Cristina; Cabrera Vélez, María MarcelaThe PERMA profile scale of Butler and Kern (2016) was adapted to be used in Ecuador. This scale is based on Seligman's (2011) well-being theory. In order to obtain the Ecuadorian version the translation-back translation method was used. The final version, was applied to a sample of 1,247 adults between 18 and 89 years who live in Cuenca, Ecuador. The discrimination capacity of the items, their reliability and factor structure were studied. The internal consistency (α = .911) for the total scale was high, a three factor structure was obtained that differs from the original version which explains 62.99% of the variance, with an acceptable general adjustment is reported with values of χ2 [A1] /gl=196.24/63=3.1, CFI = .99, RMSEA = .047, SRMR = 0.0252. In conclusion, the PERMA profile is a useful instrument to evaluate the well-being of Ecuadorian adults.Publication Reflexiones sobre la calidad en educación superior(estero, 2018) Cedillo Quizhpe, Isabel Cristina; Cabrera Ortiz, Freddy Patricio; López Calle, Claudio HernánPublication La psicología en Ecuador: la Universidad de Cuenca (1952-2008)(2020) López Calle, Claudio Hernán; Cedillo Quizhpe, Isabel Cristina; Ortiz Ochoa, William AlfredoThe aim of the study was to describe the historical development of psychology at the University of Cuenca. This study was an analytical research (historical study) that is a type of qualitative research. The results show that from 1952 to 1977 psychology was present as chairs at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Educational Science; in 1977 the first curriculum in psychology was created; between 1977 and 2008 all academic offers were in educational psychology with different emphasis; since 1983 the first graduates came out and the majority were women; there were few academic events and publications in the period studied. The first curriculum in psychology at the University of Cuenca marked a milestone in the historical development of psychology in the city of Cuenca and the region.Publication La psicología en la Universidad de Cuenca (1952-2020)(Universidad de Cuenca, 2023) López Calle, Claudio Hernán; Cedillo Quizhpe, Isabel CristinaPublication Variables sociodemográficas relacionadas con el bienestar en personas con o sin discapacidad(Editorial Universidad de Cuenca, 2017) Aguilar Sizer, Mónica Elisa; Bueno Pacheco, Gladys Alexandra; Cedillo Quizhpe, Isabel Cristina; Peña Contreras, Eva Karina; Lima Castro, Sandra EugeniaThe purpose of this cross-sectional study was to analyze whether socio-demographic variables: gender, age, marital status, educational level, income and working conditions are related to the well-being of people with and without disabilities in the city of Cuenca. Wellbeing levels were assessed in 1,064 people through the PERMA profile of Butler & Kern (2016) that was adapted for the present study. A descriptive and correlational statistical analysis was performed. The results showed high levels of well-being in the sample evaluated. As for the variables explored, higher levels of well-being were found in late adulthood, women showed a higher level of well-being than men, those with a partner had a higher level of well-being than those without one. Higher levels of wellbeing were found in people with higher education, higher income and job stability, there was no evidence of a relationship between well-being and the presence of disability. As a conclusion having greater economic income and job stability allows access to better social and hierarchical status, which results in higher levels of wellbeing. The majority of the participants registered high levels of wellbeing therefore it We concluded that the participants perceived that well-being is attainable. We suggest exploring the social variables related to sociodemographic variables since it seems that the conditions that generate networks of support, socialization and significant activities for the people raise the level of wellbeing. Keywords: Wellbeing, sociodemographic variables, disability.
