It is the second cause of death in Ecuador despite progress made in recent years have been revolutionary, there are cases where the cancer is detected in its terminal stage and still has not found any scientific or empirical methodology to indicate the presence of this pathology. Traditional methods of diagnosing cancer in any of its types are relatively ineffective in early stages, using invasive methods and at risk of being detected as false positive or false negative. Research centers and universities have joined forces to seek alternative diagnosis and treatment of cancer using methods to improve the efficiency of diagnosis and detection of cancer in its early stages. This paper discusses a group of algorithms and methodologies for processing data sets of mass spectrometry measurements of cancer and normal analyzed samples using computing platforms aimed at improving the quality of measurements for biomarkers definition applications.Item Diseño de una aplicación móvil para monitorear la cobertura GSM en Cuenca(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015) Gallardo A., Rafael; Jaramillo V., Juan C.; Astudillo-Salinas, Darwin; Palacio-Baus, Kenneth; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCThis paper presents e-Cobertura, a mobile application developed for the Android Operating System for measuring GSM signal power, and presents a Web-hosted representative coverage map generated based on the taken measurements called coberturaWeb. e-Cobertura allows presenting parameters of the network and the mobile device used for measurement, as well as statistical representation of these data. coberturaWeb not only shows the measurements acquired by the application, but also allows the user to interact with it in order to obtain detailed information about specific areas of the city.Item Infraestructura basada en Globus Toolkit para dar soporte a repositorios distribuidos de imágenes médicas(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015) Guillermo, Juan-Carlos; Gualán, Ronald; Solano-Quinde, Lizandro D.; Collaguazo-Montalván, Diana; Ramírez-Montalván, Whasintong; La Cruz, Alexandra; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCGrid computing is a recent and innovative technology; recently it has been used for designing teleradiology systems. Grid computing enables the integration and collaborative use of high performance computers, networks and databases, suitable for developing a teleradiology system. In this work we present a solution based on grid computing for a teleradiology system. This infrastructure allows accessing and exchanging of medical images stored physically located in different repositories like; hospitals and diagnostic imaging centers. Globus Toolkit (v6.0) is used as an intermediate communication program in this grid infrastructure. Images are stored in local repositories managed and handled by servers PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), usually used in workstations of the medical imaging centers. The main contribution in this paper is the design of a grid infrastructure for searching purposes either semantic or visual content, with greater emphasis on the integration of data security, user authentication while maintaining patient confidentiality.Item Cloud computing con herramientas open-source para internet de las cosas(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015) Campoverde M., Ariel M.; Hernández R., Dixys L.; Mazón O., Bertha E.; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCOne of the components of a telemetry system based on Internet of Things (IoT) is Cloud Computing, which consists of one or multiple interconnected servers that involve hardware and software to provide monitoring and control services. This is extremely true for data networks in the local and personal area, which are called WLAN and WPAN, respectively. Considering the growing popularity of IEEE802.11 standard and the great 6LoWPAN potential of use related to IoT (which works with the IEEE 802.15.4 standard), it raises a several questions related to their coexistence specifically referring to the interference between them. This paper examines the effects of IEEE 802.11 standard over IEEE 802.15.4 transmissions, by analyzing delays and loss of connectivity when they work simultaneously. The study has made by implementing a prototype network using hardware Waspmote 6LoWPAN, Libelium developed in partnership with IBM development platform, Mote Runner. This prototype network is exposed to different interference conditions caused by the IEEE 802.11 standard. Measures are have been tabulated and analyzed in order to explain different behaviors and determine the best conditions to minimize delay and optimize the performance of transmissions.Item Inicio network design for data transmission of weather sensors(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015) Reyes-Coellar, Juan; Tene, Mauricio; Astudillo-Salinas, Darwin; Barros, Gabriel; Solano-Quinde, Lizandro; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCTo acquire information from the environment in a large area of the south PROMAS1 has deployed weather sensors in a large area to acquire information from the environment, which must be collected from the remote locations and transferred to data center? Currently, the data collection is done manually, which means that PROMAS staff needs to go to the actual sensor location and download the data, which involves time invested and recurring costs for them. Therefore, in this work, a network design to automate the data collection and transfer is proposed. The goal is to get data with the lowest possible latency, so data is available as soon as information is generated. The proposed network transfers data using the standard IEEE 802.11 or IEEE 802.15.4, which involve the analysis of three fundamental parameters as distance, energy and deployment cost.Item Protocolo de pruebas para evaluar el SAR (Tasa de Absorción Específica) producido por terminales móviles(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015) Romero G., Andrés F.; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCThis paper proposes a test protocol to evaluate the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) produced by cell phones. First the resolution issued by ex CONATEL (National Telecommunications Council) for the approval of telecommunications terminal equipment is analyzed. Then a study on exposure to electromagnetic fields based on international standards to determine the appropriate procedures for SAR measurements is made. The next step is to analyze the specific absorption rate. Once done this theoretical study, the equipment and the SAR measurement system are specified, and then a testing protocol is developed to evaluate the SAR. It was possible to determine which is the appropriate standard for verification of SAR and can be applied in Ecuador.Item Modelos de calidad de software: una revisión sistemática de la literatura(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015) Villalta, Ana; Carvallo, Juan Pablo; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUCQuality evaluation of a software product plays an important role both, in the selection of software components and quality assessment of the deliverables resulting from a software development project. Our approach uses GeoSPARQL as query language, which provides the ability to perform spatial operations for exploiting and discovery of resources that represent geographic entities. These resources are stored on distributed RDF data stores, which correspond to data from different institutions involved in geo-hydrological domain. This proposal facilitates the integration and use of information from the existing links between resources that refer to the same real-world phenomenon. Finally, the resources exploited are displayed on a graphic tool named, map4rdf, allowing a unified vision of national hydric reality. This tool has been enhanced in our approach, becoming also in a technological contribution.Item Desafíos sobre las nuevas tecnologías de resolución de CAPTCHA y características de evolución de CAPTCHA en el futuro próximo(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015) Maldonado Ruiz, Daniel Alejandro; Universidad de Cuenca; Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Cuenca; DIUC; Devincenzi, Juan AlejandroSince the development of computer systems, it becomes necessary to differentiate the responses came from both a computer system as a person, so that one cannot replace the other in environments where only one person should use, which was made through CAPTCHA, which is an efficient arrangement from the cryptographic viewpoint, but it has found several issues with the new systems of Artificial Intelligence.
