Item Evidencia de volatilidad agrupada en el mercado accionario Ecuatoriano: aplicación de un modelo Igarch para el índice Ecuindex(Universidad de Cuenca, 2017-01) Covri Rivera, DanieleThe present research tries to develop a variant of the GARCH model for the Ecuadorian index stock market Ecuindex. The data are taken daily and cover a time horizon of more than 13 years. Because the sum of the parameters in the variance equation turns out to be exactly 1, therefore, an IGARCH model (1,1) is implemented. The aim is to understand if volatility is clustered and, secondly, the purpose is to measure the risk of the Ecuadorian stock market. These results may be relevant for further research looking at predictions using financial derivative instruments or for measuring the market risk of portfolios.Item Los sistemas de información y su incidencia en la competitividad de la microempresa del sector de muebles de madera del cantón Cuenca en la provincia del Azuay(Universidad de Cuenca, 2017-01) Cordero, Diego Marcelo; Bermeo Pazmiño, Katina VanessaThe investigation is carried out the analysis of the influence of the information systems on the competitiveness of the microenterprise of the wood furniture manufacturing sector of the Cuenca canton in the province of Azuay in the Republic of Ecuador. For this, a model of competitiveness analysis is elaborated, the same one that is formed by five constructs or variables; four of them operated from the context of the information systems, which involve: planning, inputs, processes and outputs; and the fifth formed by the variable competitiveness. The work begins with the analysis of the literature, the description of the materials and methods used, the determination of four hypotheses, starting point to elaborate the proposed model whose validation and verification is executed with structural equations. In the end the conclusions of the study are drawn up, where it is determined that there are difficulties in the structure of the information systems, in this type of microenterprises as more emphasis is given to the information output, rather than to the entry and the process of the same..Item Bases for alternative nonparametric mincer function(Universidad de Cuenca, 2017-01) Sacoto Molina, Matias Nicolas; Brondino, AlejandroThis work undertakes a nonparametric regression in order to assess the viability of this technique in modeling a simplified Mincer Function of earnings applied to the NBA players’ wages. The main advantages of using this technique is that it does not rely on assumptions and the statistical inference is not sensitive to distributions disturbances due to violations of the assumptions. The results of the nonparametric estimation are compared to a classical OLS regression. We found evidence that the OLS estimator did not fulfilled the assumptions that this method requires, therefore, the statistical inference form this estimation could lead to wrong conclusions (due to lack of efficiency), unless some correction that solves the violation to the assumptions is applied to the model. On the other hand, the confidence intervals obtained from the nonparametric regression are more accurate and less sensitive to variability and magnitude of the variables. Consequently, the nonparametric estimation would be an alternative to model the behaviour of the wages avoiding strong assumptions that could lead to wrong statistical inference conclusions.Item Fuentes de la desigualdad económica en Ecuador(Universidad de Cuenca, 2017-01) Ramírez Alvarez, José Fernando; Díaz Sánchez, JuanIn the last decades, the economic inequality problem has taken relevance in most economies in the world. Ecuador has been no exception. In 2014, the 5% of the richest population of Ecuador concentrated 46 times the income of 5% of the poorest population. This disparity creates a serious controversy with the development principles stipulated in the ecuadorian constitution. In this context, this paper analyzes the main income sources that contributes the economic inequality in Ecuador. The data come from the Survey of Living Conditions 2013-2014.
