The study aims to formulate a framework to understand the design guidelines of Smart-SUOS. To achieve the aim, a critical review of the existing literature was carried out. The analysis of the secondary data gathered 13 essential landscape design elements (LDEs), 9 smart services and technology integration, and 10 design conditions (DCs) that were utilized to formulate a design framework of Smart-SUOS. The validated design framework included an additional LDE, 2 smart services and technology integration, and 2 DCs. The framework also includes a series of challenges and measures to overcome the challenges for the successful design of Smart-SUOS.Publication A la sombra de las ciudades en flor(Universidad de Cuenca. Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo, 2017-11-24) Moreno Pérez, José Ramón; Iglesia Salgado, Félix de laThe contemporary city is informed by a habitability divided between the modes imposed by the devices of "biopolitical democracy" and the shared elaborations of "terrible communities". This produces a shear in its configuration, which install behaviors that try to articulate this unbearable present emptiness in our lives. In four movements, we want to report of “common places, weapon, temporalities, dynamizations…” that treat of that a world appears. We are in the presence of a repeated transit along the construction of modern urbanity, which now has definitely reached -in the complete realization of its original model- become a great "interior". As celebrates that moment of joy and amazement the title of the article, the "prisoner nomads" would now be engaged in the construction of their narrative and arguments. Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo, 2020-01-20) Hernández García, Jaime; Sierra, MarthaThe article presents and analyses the results of a research project and pedagogical action on the exploration of socio-spatial dynamics in informal settlements in Bogotá and the proposals of public space developed, in a summer international design studio with students from Colombia and México, in which members of the community also took part. Using a documentary methodology, the official records of the professional association were reviewed and compared with journalistic coverage by the newspaper La Prensa during that period. It was possible to identify awards, as well as paradigmatic cases of their protagonists. The results revealed and made visible nearly two hundred awards won by women in architecture, but also highlighted the limitations of the gender bias imposed by both the official entity and the editorial practices of the time. By restoring the full names of the winners and acknowledging their participation in official disciplinary competitions, this research contributes to the construction of a more equitable architectural historiography and collaborates with the expansion of recognition of women’s contributions to 20th-century architecture. Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo, 2019-07-26) Muñoz Escalante, MauricioThe main purpose of this essay is to promote a reflection on architectural objects apropos Graham Harman, Manuel DeLanda, Bruno Latour and other philosophers’ loosely associated theory about objects on actual culture. It presents how architecture objects were already present from a modern previous perspective, as well as its intrinsic object-subject relation, and then it analyzes how a flat ontology, as proposed by Object Oriented Ontology, changes paradigms such as the whole as sum of its parts, and the correlation between human beings and objects, among others. It supports the idea that the existence of objects despite its relations produces an endless amount of images or appearances, while the object-in-itself remains inaccessible to us. Accordingly, it finally speculates that an acronym containing such multiplicity would also be impossible. Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo, 2017-12-29) Bello Caballero, Luis; Muñoz Castillo, María; Soto Suárez, Milene; Morcate Labrada, FloraRecent changes in Cuba’s economic and social policies foresee implications in local heritage sites. El antes, el ahora y el después(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015-01) Cordero Cueva, PaulaTo understand the relationship between the landscape and biological agents in Cuenca during the past 15 years, it is necessary to carry out an analysis of the past, the present and the future in the history of this landscape. Living beings are agents of change and transformation of the image of the city, the plants and animals depend on us and vice versa. Unfortunately, to consolidate and grow, the city of Cuenca is losing green areas and the connection between the biological corridors that sustain the landscape. Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo, 2017-11-24) Santamarina Macho, CarlosThe bond between architecture and place should not be limited to a description of the situation (where and when), but it can also imply the taking of a decision about the way (how) and the reason (why) for this relationship which is sometimes, by itself, able to make the projectual act have sense. This paper reflects, through case studies, on several ways of addressing this topic from the point of view of the contemporary architectural design, and on the emergence of new mechanisms for representing, communicating and making it comprehensible. The paper also aims to overcome the idea of site plan as a mere technical tool, claiming for its new role as main ideological instrument for the development of the architectural projects.Publication Algunas reflexiones sobre Cuenca, Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad(2015-01) Carvallo Cordero, HonoratoAlready fifteen years after the honorable designation of Cuenca as Cultural Heritage of Humanity, It is long enough to make a space and, between us, meditating on how we are walking and assuming this enormous responsibility, because, while it is an honor, it is also a commitment of enlargement and respect to this city. The number of their followers is increasing. However, it is difficult to find, within these fields, studies that deepen taking into account the opinion of the agents that means the main role in these methodologies, i.e.: students and lecturers. The objective of this article is to know the opinion about the subject of Urban Development Project, lectured in the H.T.S. of Building Engineering of the University of Granada, using the three most important methodologies of university teaching: masterly lesson, flipped classroom and project-based learning. Later it should be related these data with the improvement of their competences through the results obtained through its evaluation.Publication Análisis del ambiente interior de una vivienda contemporánea en el área rural de Cuenca(Universidad de Cuenca, 2014-01) Bustillos, David; Idrovo, DanielThis document seeks to make a technical calculation and analysis to verify the conditions of thermal insulation of a house chosen haphazardly, located in the rural parish of Sayausi, in the sector of Gallo Cantana, of the city of Cuenca in Ecuador, to 2800 m.a.s.l., and verify the compliance of the thermal regulation that sets Ecuadorian construction standard nec-11, according to the climate and microclimate of the town. This disruption has led to lifestyle changes and altered the character of public places. The existing literature has not adequately explored this issue from an urban design perspective for Indian cities. To predict the future direction of transformation, a holistic study of this phenomenon is imperative. This paper aims to theoretically identify the relevant parameters, sub-parameters and variables that influence this phenomenon in the Indian context. Furthermore, it seeks to establish a theoretical framework based on their inter-relationship for examining similar transformations in contemporary urban development processes.Publication Antecedentes, rol y desafío de la digitalización del patrimonio arquitectónico(Universidad de Cuenca, 2013-10-18) Santana Quintero, MarioNo doubt, the use of digital tools in the documentation of the architectural heritage has revolutionized the way in which historic places are identified, disseminated and virtually valued. However, these new opportunities bring new challenges to guarantee scientific accuracy and the reliability of the information used to document and protect the heritage sites long term and thus to ensure that these records are transmitted and are maintained for future use. This contribution is not only intended to underline the challenges, but also to offer options, taking into account the notion of efficiency requirements and how to capture and disseminate the knowledge the of heritage goods. These objectives will be achieved by taking as starting point the needs of the place from a comprehensive and participatory approach, focused on the importance of the information to understand the meaning and integrity. In this sense, it is essential also to evaluate the radius of deterioration caused by disturbances/threats and potential risks to these cultural resources. In relation to cultural heritage, the emphasis of this work is given to historic buildings and archaeological sites. Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo, 2017-12-29) De Urbina, AmparoThis article presents contributions from the actor-network theory to the recommendation of the Historic Urban Landscape; all this from the understanding of historical centers as urban heritage, where the urban phenomenon transcends the physical dimension of the city. This theoretical review considers the landscape as central and articulating concept; this implies recognizing and strengthening the social component understood from the construction of relationships. The actor-network theory is useful because it shows the relational patterns between actors - human and non-human - in order to make them visible.Publication Aprendiendo a Mirar(Universidad de Cuenca.
