The collection of data was done in May and June 2014 and tabulation was conducted in Excel - SPSS 15.0. The results indicate: the 100% of the study population suffer some form of abuse; the most common forms are: caretakers who stop talking for several hours, 27%; of caregivers; strong pull hair: 24%, neglect of personal hygiene of children, 18.5% and 6.5% children are handled, touched or fondled their private parts without permission, abuse is directly linked to a numerous members of family.Item Comparación de los resultados del test de marcha de 6 minutos con dos ecuaciones predictivas en el grupo de acondicionamiento físico de la Universidad de Cuenca. Cuenca, 2016(Universidad de Cuenca, 2017-11-11) Bernal Román, María Isabel; Córdova Chacho, Daniela; Méndez Sacta, Viviana Catalina; Bravo Aguilar, Christian RomeoBackground: The 6-Minute Walk Test (TM6M) assesses the individual's functional ability. The most commonly used equations for interpretation are those of Enright & Sherrill and Troosters, developed abroad. In Cuenca - Ecuador, there are no investigations in this regard. General Aim: To compare the results of the Six Minute Walk Test with two Predictive Equations in the Physical Conditioning Group of the University of Cuenca. Cuenca, 2016. Methodology: Descriptive and cross-sectional study. The study population consisted of 130 people aged 18 to 25 years old, evaluated according to the variable ages, weight, height, sex, body mass index (BMI) and meters walked. The results were organized, analyzed and interpreted using the SPSS Software version 2.2, in which measures of central tendency, dispersion, student t, ANOVA and Pearson correlation test were obtained. Results: The average distance walked was 655.4 meters. When comparing this data with Enright & Sherrill and Troosters, it is evident that the participants did not reach the optimal meters to walk. However, they surpassed what was estimated by the Enright & Sherrill Low Limit of Normality (LIN) value. When correlating the meters walked with the height and sex, a degree of significance of p <0.05 was evidenced, which did not occur with age, BMI and weight. Conclusion: The equations used in this project did not allow us to accurately predict the meters to be covered in our study population. However, the results can serve as a reference to compare the meters walked by people aged 18 to 25 years old, with cardiorespiratory pathologiesItem Complicaciones por encamamiento prolongado en los pacientes del Área de Clínica y Cirugía del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso Cuenca 2014(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015-11-11) Cobos Dumas, María Valentina; Cruz Montaño, Estefanía Catalina; Paredes Muñoz, Lilia del Carmen; Zhapán Sisalima, Elizabeth Fernanda; Freire Argudo, Marco VinicioThe objective of this observational, descriptive and prospective study is to describe the complications due to prolonged lying times in patients who were hospitalized in the clinic and surgery area in Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, during the period of September 2014 to January 2015, were included all the patients found in prolonged lying times (˃ 72 hours) independently of their based pathology. To determine which patients were found in prolonged lying times the Karnofsky and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) scales were used to interpret the functional state of the patients according to the World Health Organization. The data collection of each patient was made daily (annex #2) with the objective of registering the complications shown due to prolonged lying times and mortality during the hospitalization period. Of 1,369 patients admitted during our study of the surgery and clinic area, 150 were kept in prolonged bed rest, of which 81 corresponding to 54% had at least one complication. The most common complication was pressure ulcers with a percentage of 46.7%, followed by 10.7% nosocomial pneumonia and deep vein thrombosis with 4%. 69% of patients with complications from prolonged bed rest were older than 70 years. The diseases of the circulatory system CIE10 I00-I99 were more related to the presence of complications with a percentage 37.04%. 42% of bedridden patients who died were hospitalized between 3-10 days. In the results obtained from the present study we observed a high percentage of complications in patients on prolonged bed rest. This could prolong hospital stay and increase patient mortality, as well as the morbidity rate.Item Conocimientos, actitudes y práctica sobre mecánica corporal en los cuidadores de personas con discapacidad física pertenecientes al Área de Salud Yanuncay, Cuenca 2014(Universidad de Cuenca, 2015-11-11) Álvarez Lozano, Nube Estefanía; Ávila Balarezo, Miriam Alexandra; Tenezaca Dumán, Zandra Rocío; Ayavaca Tapia, Luz María; Pesántez Díaz, Tania LorenaCarers of people with physical disabilities provide permanent care to the disabled patient, however, unaware of the proper application of body mechanics and are prone to muscle skeletal disorders.
